Bridging National Pingtung University to Can Tho University, a top institute of the Mekong Delta Region
Starting from the 17th of July, National Pingtung University will host a distinguished delegation led by Vice rector LE VIET DUNG from Can Tho University (CTU) Vietnam for a two-week program which includes Taiwan culture study and most importantly, Chinese learning course at NPTU.
CTU, now one of NPTU’s partner universities, is a top institute in the Mekong Delta Region which focuses on training, conducting scientific research, and transferring technology. CTU is aiming at not only becoming the best university in Vietnam but also a renowned academic institute throughout Asia-Pacific in education, research, and development by 2020. CTU currently has 8 colleges including: College of Agriculture & Applied Biology, College of Aquaculture & Fisheries, College of Economics, College of Engineering Technology, College of Environment & Natural Resources, College of ICT, College of Rural Development, College of Natural Sciences, and 7 Schools: School of Graduate, School of Education, School of Foreign Languages, School of Law School of Pre-University, School of Political Science, School of Social Sciences and Humanities. NPTU and CTU both agree to initiate several cooperation including exchange students/staff program, joint research and training program, and a tri-country student event in the near future.
After the MoU signing ceremony on the 18th of July, the delegation visited the newly opened university museum in the morning. In the afternoon, they visited one of the most creative classroom at NPTU, located on the 2nd floor of cafeteria. All the 20 delegates enjoyed the interesting coffee/chemistry lecture taught by Prof. Kelvin Lin from the Department of Applied Chemistry. Dean of the office of international affairs, TED Liu, also introduced the board game learning to the delegates. Assisted by students, they experienced a fun yet educational games!
