Scholars from University of Victoria and Simon Fraser University Visit NPTU to Explore Collaboration in Language Education and Cultural Exchange
加拿大維多利亞大學(University of Victoria)王炳勻教授與西門菲莎大學(Simon Fraser University)吳麗珠教授,在教育部常務次長朱俊彰的引薦下,5月27日專程到屏東大學訪問,雙方展開一場關於語言教育與國際文化交流的深度對話。
Professor Bing-Yun Wang from the University of Victoria and Professor Li-Chu Wu from Simon Fraser University visited National Pingtung University (NPTU) on May 27, following a recommendation by Dr. Chun-Chang Chu, Executive Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education. Both sides engaged in an in-depth dialogue on language education and international cultural exchange.
此次來訪由曾紀幸副校長接待,並由陳皇州國際事務長、華語教學中心黃蘭棻主任與國際合作組林欣慧組長共同參與會談,展現本校對推動國際合作與語言教育發展的高度重視。
The visit was hosted by Vice President Dr. Chi-Hsing Tseng and joined by Dr. Huang-Chou Chen, Director of the Office of International Affairs; Director Lan-Fen Huang of the Chinese Language Teaching Center; and Ms. Hsin-Hui Lin, Chief of the International Cooperation Section. Their participation demonstrated NPTU’s strong commitment to promoting international collaboration and the development of language education.
會談中,華語教學中心黃蘭棻主任進行簡報,介紹本校華語教學中心的特色與發展方向。
During the meeting, Director Lan-Fen Huang gave a presentation outlining the features and development goals of NPTU’s Chinese Language Teaching Center.
黃主任指出,本校開設多元化的華語課程,涵蓋生活會話、文化語境及學術中文等面向,課程內容兼顧實用性與文化深度。
Director Huang noted that the Center offers a diverse range of Chinese courses, including daily conversation, cultural context, and academic Chinese, with a curriculum that balances practical application and cultural depth.
華語教學中心師資團隊擁有專業教學證照與豐富教學經驗,能依據學生需求進行靈活教學,亦建構完善的課後輔導與學習支持網絡,協助學生解決語言學習中所遇挑戰。
The Center’s faculty consists of certified and experienced educators capable of providing flexible instruction tailored to students' needs, supported by a robust tutoring and learning assistance system to help students overcome challenges in language learning.
另提及本校在華語師資培訓方面的持續投入,並說明申請教育部「優華語計畫」的進展與未來展望,期望成為更多國際學校的合作夥伴。
She also highlighted the university’s continuous investment in Chinese teacher training and updated the guests on the progress of NPTU’s application for the Ministry of Education’s “Taiwan Huayu BEST Program,” expressing hopes to build more international partnerships.
陳皇州國際長指出,屏東大學與加拿大之間的互動已行之有年。
Dr. Huang-Chou Chen remarked that NPTU has enjoyed longstanding engagement with Canada.
去年不僅有加拿大國會議員來訪本校,屏大也曾組團前往加拿大拜會多所姊妹校,深化雙邊教育與學術交流關係。
Last year, a Canadian Member of Parliament visited NPTU, and the university also sent a delegation to Canada to strengthen ties with multiple sister institutions, deepening educational and academic exchange.
此次加拿大學者來訪,可說是在既有互動基礎上持續深化合作的重要一步,顯見雙方互動脈絡日益緊密,合作關係具有深遠意義。
The visit by Canadian scholars marks a significant step in advancing cooperation on the foundation of previous exchanges, reflecting an increasingly close and meaningful bilateral relationship.
在文化體驗與校外參訪活動的規劃方面,雙方進行熱烈交流。
The two sides also engaged in lively discussions on planning cultural immersion and off-campus activities.
加拿大學者特別關心課堂之外的文化體驗內容,並對本校提出的傳統工藝參與、地方文化導覽、宗教與自然景觀參訪等方案表達高度興趣。
The Canadian scholars showed strong interest in cultural activities outside the classroom, including hands-on traditional crafts, local cultural tours, and visits to religious and natural landmarks proposed by NPTU.
雙方一致認為,文化學習與語言教學應相輔相成,方能深化學生的整體學習經驗。
Both parties agreed that cultural learning and language instruction should go hand in hand to enhance students’ overall educational experience.
此外,雙方亦探討語言交流活動的設計,尤其是安排加拿大學生與台灣在地學生進行語言夥伴配對與課外互動的可能性。
The discussion also covered potential language exchange programs, including pairing Canadian students with local Taiwanese students for language partnerships and extracurricular interaction.
透過實際溝通與文化交流,學生將有更多機會應用語言於真實語境,進一步提升語言能力,並建立跨文化的理解與友誼。
Through real-life communication and cultural exchange, students will gain more opportunities to use language in authentic contexts, thereby improving their proficiency and building intercultural understanding and friendships.
值得一提的是,會中也觸及在加拿大合作設立「臺灣華語文學習中心」的可能性。
Notably, the possibility of jointly establishing a “Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning” in Canada was also discussed.
雙方對此構想皆表達高度興趣,認為此舉不僅可推廣臺灣優質華語教育資源,也有助於深化雙方長期合作關係,拓展本校在國際華語教學領域的影響力。
Both parties expressed strong interest in the idea, seeing it as a way to promote Taiwan’s high-quality Mandarin education resources, strengthen long-term cooperation, and expand NPTU’s global influence in Mandarin teaching.
拜會結束前,華語教學中心黃蘭棻主任特別致贈具原住民文化意涵的琉璃珠,象徵祝福與友誼,為此次交流畫下溫馨且富含文化象徵的句點。
Before concluding the visit, Director Lan-Fen Huang presented the guests with glazed beads symbolizing blessings and friendship, carrying rich indigenous cultural significance and marking a warm, symbolic end to the exchange.
