A student group from the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries (QACI) arrived in Pingtung on April 6, 2025, for a six-day cultural and educational exchange. It’s the first time QACI has worked with National Pingtung University, with activities designed to help students from Taiwan and Australia learn more about each other’s cultures and broaden their global outlook.

The program included local market visits, indigenous cultural experiences, Chinese chess classes, and a tea ceremony at Fo Guang Shan. Students also visited three schools — Pingtung Girls' High School, the elementary section of Pingtung Science Park Experimental School, and E-DA International High School — to take part in cultural exchange and learning activities with local teachers and students.

The delegation was led by QACI Principal Shannon Carter, accompanied by Director of Science Liam Clifford and Chinese teacher Ariel Tseng. Principal Carter said that QACI values long-term international cooperation and encourages students to broaden their cross-cultural perspectives. She emphasized that this trip is not only an academic exchange, but also an important bridge for cultural understanding and international friendship.

At Pingtung Girls' High School, QACI students had lunch with local students and joined activities like sports, culture, and cooking, including making bubble tea. At the elementary division of Pingtung Science Park Experimental School, they watched student presentations on topics like the environment and robotics, and were impressed by the creativity.

In addition to campus exchanges, the delegation also visited the Pingtung Aboriginal Cultural Park, the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, and the Kaohsiung Pier-2 Art Center. They experienced Taiwan's night market culture and diverse local cuisine at the Pingtung and Liuhe night markets, gaining a deeper appreciation for the charm of Taiwan’s people and culture.

The exchange program concluded successfully on April 11, with both sides expressing strong appreciation for the results. National Pingtung University stated that it will continue to expand its cooperation with QACI and plans to develop more diverse international education programs to help cultivate a generation of young people with global perspectives, cultural awareness, and innovative abilities.
