[Kagawa University Visits and Signs Cooperation Agreement]

日本香川大學（Kagawa University）於3月17日拜訪本校，雙方共同探討學術合作議題，並簽署合作協議，為未來的學術與文化交流奠定堅實基礎。
On March 17, Kagawa University from Japan visited National Pingtung University to discuss academic collaboration and signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement lays a strong foundation for future academic and cultural exchanges between the two universities.

本次交流會議由屏東大學校長陳永森教授與香川大學副校長Naoyuki Hara教授共同主持，雙方代表針對未來學術合作、師生交換計畫以及共同研究進行深入討論。會議期間，雙方簽署了學術交流協議，以期推動更多實質性的學術交流與合作機會。
The meeting was led by President Prof. Dr. Robert Chen of National Pingtung University and Vice President Naoyuki Hara of Kagawa University. Both sides had in-depth discussions on academic cooperation, student and faculty exchange programs, and joint research projects. During the meeting, they officially signed an academic exchange agreement to promote further collaboration.

日本香川大學成立於1949年，是日本四國地區的重要國立大學之一。該校設有六個學院，包括教育學院、法學院、經濟學院、醫學院、工程學院與農學院。香川大學以「知行合一、厚德載物」為教育理念，強調理論與實踐並重；近年來，香川大學亦投入智慧科技、農業創新及永續發展領域的研究，並強調與當地社會的緊密連結，致力於提升區域發展與國際影響力。
Kagawa University, founded in 1949, is one of the key national universities in Japan’s Shikoku region. It has six faculties: Education, Law, Economics, Medicine, Engineering, and Agriculture. Kagawa University emphasizes a balance between theory and practice. In recent years, the university has also been actively engaged in research on smart technology, agricultural innovation, and sustainable development. Furthermore, it places great importance on close connections with the local community, striving to enhance regional development and expand its international influence.

2024年7月，由陳永森校長領隊至香川大學訪問，並針對學術合作、師生交換計畫進行深入討論。該次交流期間，雙方探討了人文社會學院與香川大學經濟學部的共同授課計畫，並積極規劃資訊學院與理學院在半導體與人工智慧（AI）領域的合作。此外，香川大學承諾每年固定選送學生至屏東大學進行交換學習，以深化學術交流。
In July 2024, President Chen led a delegation to Kagawa University to discuss academic collaboration in detail. Both universities explored joint teaching programs between Pingtung University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Kagawa University’s Faculty of Economics. They also planned cooperation in semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) research. Additionally, Kagawa University agreed to send students to Pingtung University for exchange programs every year.

陳永森校長於本次會談表示學校對於各種國際交流機會皆抱持開放態度，並期待在此次學術交流協定的基礎上，探討更多合作可能性。
陳皇州國際長則進一步指出，雙方可在三大領域展開合作，分別為教育（兩校均設有教育學院，且屏東大學特別重視幼教師資培育）、經濟學與自然科學（涵蓋物理、化學、生物、工程與機器人技術等），期望未來有更多學生交換機會。
President Chen expressed his openness to more international exchange opportunities and hoped to expand cooperation through this agreement.
Dr. Kelvin Huang-Chou Chen, Dean of the Office of International Affairs, suggested three main areas for collaboration:
1.Education - Both universities have education faculties, with Pingtung University focusing on early childhood teacher training.
2.Economics
3.Natural Sciences - Including physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and robotics.

香川大學副校長Naoyuki Hara教授表示想了解本校在地方創生永續發展情形，與會客家研究中心黃露鋒主任則表示地方創生領域常向日本借鏡，也許兩校可以一起合作推動創新計畫。除了地方創生永續發展議題外，觀光產業研究也是討論議題之一，本校則安排應用日語學系及休閒管理學系，外加屏東勝利星村參訪，讓Naoyuki Hara教授實地走訪更瞭解本校與屏東縣市產業合作情形。
Vice President Naoyuki Hara of Kagawa University was interested in learning about Pingtung University’s efforts in regional development and sustainability. Director Huang Lu-Feng from the Hakka Studies Research Center mentioned that Taiwan often learns from Japan in this area, and both universities could work together on innovative projects. The discussion also covered tourism research, and Pingtung University arranged visits to the Department of Applied Japanese, the Department of Leisure Management, and V.I.P ZONE(Victorystar in Pingtung) to showcase industry collaborations.

香川大竹此行拜會不止回應了陳校長去年出訪的目的，也藉由簽署合作協議締結兩校合作關係外，並承諾本校送5名學習兩年中文的學生至本校交換一年，繼該校與臺灣合作夥伴政治大學、嘉義大學及真理大學，本校也成為該校在臺灣合作重點大學之一。
This visit by Kagawa University not only responded to President Chen’s visit last year but also formally established a partnership between the two universities through the signing of a cooperation agreement. Additionally, Kagawa University committed to sending five students who have studied Chinese for two years to Pingtung University for a one-year exchange program. After partnering with National Chengchi University, National Chiayi University, and Aletheia University, Kagawa University has now designated Pingtung University as one of its key partner institutions in Taiwan.

此次交流訪問圓滿成功，國立屏東大學與日本香川大學皆對未來合作充滿期待，期盼透過持續的學術與文化交流，共同推動國際高等教育的發展。
The visit was highly successful, and both universities look forward to future collaborations. Through continuous academic and cultural exchanges, they aim to advance international higher education together.
